Sarah to play 8th Annual White Ribbon Concert

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Sarah will be returning back to the Phoenix concert hall in Toronto on June 7th to play cover songs in support of the White Ribbon Campaign. Thanks to Jareed for finding this news in Chart Attack.

Update, May 27:
Maple Music has worked with the promoter of the White Ribbon Concert to set up tickets and they are waiving ticketing fees with the hopes of raising as much awareness and money for this great cause. To purchase tickets through Maple Music, visit the Boutique page at www.sarahslean.com and click on the tickets link there.

The NXNE Music And Film Festival and the White Ribbon Campaign have announced the lineup for the 8th Annual White Ribbon Concert, to be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2005.

Confirmed participants include guitarist Alex Lifeson of Rush, All Systems Go's lead vocalist and guitarist John Kastner, Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo, singer-songwriters Bruce Cockburn , Ron Sexsmith, Sarah Slean and Emm Gryner and Alexisonfire guitarist/vocalist Dallas Green, who will perform with singer Jully Black . NXNE's 2004 Fan Choice award winner Shawn Hewitt And The National Strike will start the evening off. More names will be announced shortly.

The all-ages concert will follow the traditional, cover-songs-only format, but there will be no house band — a change that one publicity agent “is sure to result in even more musical minglings than before.”

Another change in this year's event will be the absence of the Tea Party's Jeff Martin. He was one of the White Ribbon Concert's main Toronto organizers, but this year he's letting some new blood run the show.

The event will be held at The Phoenix in Toronto. The first 100 NXNE 2005 wristband holders in line will be admitted free of charge. Otherwise, tickets for the event are $25 and go on sale on May 6, 2005 at The Phoenix Box Office, Rotate This, Soundscapes and through Ticketmaster.

For $75 a pop, VIP tickets entitle the bearer to goodie bags, free food, cocktails and better opportunities to meet the musicians. All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to the White Ribbon Campaign.

The White Ribbon Campaign was established in 1991 when a group of Canadian men decided to speak out against violence against women. It has since become the largest effort in the world of its kind. The white ribbon is a symbol of men's opposition to men's violence against women.

Back to the River's Edge Festival, Almonte ON

It appears that Sarah may be playing the River Edge Festival in Almonte Ontario on Saturday June 11th. Almonte was given a 'thank you' in the Day One liner notes as it was the area of the cottage she has taken refuge in. Sarah's appearance can't be confirmed at the moment as the source of the information has just updated the year from 2004, to reflect 2005.

Mary Video - First glance on Etalk Daily

During the credits of Wednesday's E-Talk Daily, a first glimpse of the Mary video was available. The style looked simular to the animation of the Day One video mixed with live action from Sarah. Nothing else is known about the video at this point but thanks to Flare for the heads up about the clip being on E-talk.

Here is glimpse of the 3 scenes shown in the 20 second clip:
Looking out a frosty window
Sarah playing an air harp
A ghost train passing into Sarah

Writing Again

It was thought of before that Sarah would be touring Europe and Germany sometime in the upcoming months. Instead she's going to spend sometime "writing and regrouping" according to a message on her official page. Another thread notes that the offical site "boutique" is selling out its Day One shirts to be replaced with new designs. Blue Parade albums have been restocked.

Back into the woods

Saturday April 16th show at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto marked her last show for this tour. Sarah told fans that she will be moving back to the cottage for the time being and will begin the process of working on her next album. She plans to bringing the scrap book "Passioneers v.1" with her. Many thanks for those that worked on that project as it was beautiful and a digital version will be up soon.

Day One has been released in Germany and press for it has been posted in the Review Forum on the offical board. It seems unlikely that Day One will be released through out the U.S. but can be ordered online.

Juno - wrap up

Sarah's Day One album didn't win for Alternative Adult Album or for Recorded Engineer of the Year. She did however get to present the Songwritter of the year to friend Ron Sexsmith.

On return from a commercial break during desperate house wives Sarah did a short interview on the red carpet. Her and Ron were together for the interview and expressed how happy the were to bed there.

A full review of the weekend events will be published as reports come in. (See previous post)

Update June 17,
Danier Leather treated Sarah to a "red leather croco bag" at this year's Juno's.
